To the graduating high school Class of 2020:
Thank you for your interest in the COVID College Connect program, an initiative of L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti and the L.A. Compact and Congratulations on your college acceptance!
We know that enrolling in college in the Fall comes with many difficult decisions and considerations - made more difficult by COVID-19. This program is intended to help you navigate that difficult decision. Please fill out our form below (scroll down) with information about your college choices and concerns about enrollment. A representative from the program will reach out to you to offer expert advice or connect you with someone at your preferred college who can provide additional assistance.
After you submit the form below, we encourage you to:
- Remain in close contact with the admissions offices of the colleges you hope to enroll in. Throughout the month, these offices may amend policies or provide updates important to your future.
- Visit our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for answers to questions about the enrollment process that you may have.
-
Access college and financial aid resources offered by L.A. Cash for College - a campaign to help students achieve their college aspirations.
- Check out these Financial Aid Tips for a step-by-step guide to change your FAFSA or Dream Act application, if your economic situation has changed.
- Participate in free webinars offered throughout the month of May to hear about students’ college experiences in the time of COVID-19 and to get information about on-campus and virtual supports, financial aid, and social aid assistance.

I am the College Counselor at LA HIgh School. I can help you. Log into your Cal State LA student Portal. Do not have a portal see this link to get one. http://www.calstatela.edu/registrar/get You also would have received a email from Cal State LA regarding how to log in. Check your spam/junk email if you did not see it. Once in your portal on the landing page click on my Financial Aid Award. You should be able to see your options for paying for college. If you completed the FAFSA ( including a parent signature) and you qualify you should see a amount for the Federal Peel Grant and State Grant. When ever you see the word grant that means that it is money for you to use to pay for college and you do not have to pay it back! https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/types/grants/pell and https://www.csac.ca.gov/cal-grant-faq-0. If you applied for the California Dream Act Fin Aid app you will not see the Pell grant just the state grant. You may also see some student loans. Those are optional and you do not have to accept them. If you are planning on living at home and commuting to CSULA then the grant aid should cover your tuition. Which is the cost to go to class. I hope this helps!
