About the Collaborative
The Los Angeles Region K-16 Collaborative aims to close postsecondary attainment and workforce gaps for BIPOC* students, beginning with a focus on streamlined pathways to health care, engineering and computer science careers. This will be accomplished by leveraging existing initiatives and relationships across L.A. County between higher education segments and institutions; K-12 districts and schools; employers and business organizations; local government; and community partners.

Structure
L.A. Regional Stewardship Group
Represents the collaborative infrastructure for K-16 partnerships broadly in L.A. County, not just for specific projects related to health and engineering funded through the state K-16 opportunity.
The Stewardship Group will have specific roles related to K-16 grant stewardship including designing and scoring of the sub-regional RFP and subsequent sub-award allotments. Their role will expand over time to promote broader coordination across the County on education to workforce pathways.
L.A. Regional Convener
For 25 years, UNITE-LA has supported the development of truly effective public education and workforce systems, so that all L.A. County youth have a chance to succeed in college, career and beyond. UNITE-LA is the convener of the L.A. Compact, a bold commitment to close education and workforce gaps caused by systemic inequities and racism.
As a neutral intermediary in the region, UNITE-LA is building on existing collective impact initiatives to strengthen Los Angeles County through the L.A. Region K-16 Collaborative. UNITE-LA will staff the Regional Stewardship Group; support sub-regional personnel and efforts; and liaise with the state around this and related initiatives.
Sub-Regional Partnerships
Pathways and partnerships within five sub-regions, organically organized around each CSU in L.A. County to focus on pathway development and implementation of student-centered strategies. Sub-regional working groups with established members, consisting of K-16 partners and employers, who regularly convene to advance specific goals related to a sub-regional partnership or around sector-specific strategy.
Each sub-regional partnership will have convener, acting as a backbone organization to provide ongoing facilitation to help partners identify common goals and work towards achieving them. This organization will liaise with UNITE-LA and fiscal agent LACCD, around grant requirements.
Some community colleges and school districts may choose to participate in multiple hubs based on historic partnerships, proposed pathway expansion, and feeder patterns. Hubs may also choose to collaborate with one or more UCs and employers that are specific to their region or pathway. However, collaboration with UCs and employers will be assessed at the Stewardship Group level to promote coordination across sub-regional hubs and ensure their time is maximized.
