High School Graduation by Geographic Area

There has been a general upward trend in four-year cohort high school graduation rates across LAUSD, Los Angeles County and California from 2010 to 2023.  The increase is particularly pronounced for LAUSD, where the graduation rate rose from 62 percent in 2010 to 84 percent in 2023.  The overall trajectory since 2010 shows marked improvement, with a small upward blip across all geographic areas in 2022.

LAUSD High School Graduation by Race/Ethnicity

High school graduation improved for all racial/ethnic groups in LAUSD from 2010 to 2023, with the most impressive increases for Black and Latinx students (26 and 25 percentage points, respectively). While Asian students continue to have the highest graduation rates, followed by white students, the gaps between groups have narrowed over time. Like the overall trends for LAUSD, L.A. County and California, a slight upward blip is observed for each group in 2022.
