Chart Summary:

The percentage of high school graduates eligible for UC/CSU admission improved from 2018 to 2023 in LAUSD, Los Angeles County, and California. (There are slight dips in 2020 for the district and county, which are likely due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.) LAUSD shows the highest eligibility rates and the largest increases, followed by Los Angeles County, and the state. These data indicate very good progress in preparing students for higher education in Los Angeles, especially for the district—where eligibility rose from 62 percent in 2018 to 69 percent in 2023 (i.e., seven percentage points). Improvement was much flatter statewide, rising two percentage points over the five-year period (from 50 percent to 52 percent).
