Convened by UNITE-LA
Between 2013 and 2019, the Los Angeles Regional STEM Hub sought to connect the region’s leading professionals and educators in an effort to expand student access to high-quality Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEAM) education and provide sustainable models for 21st century workforce and skills development. The Hub leveraged L.A.’s resources and significant civic institutions to develop further capacity for system-wide transformation of STEM education. By bringing together public, private, nonprofit and academic sectors, the Hub created better alignment between employer needs and educational opportunities, improved STEM professional development, connected STEM-related business, trade/professional associations and labor unions; provided students with access to positive STEM experiences and real world STEM exploration; and encouraged greater diversity within STEM careers.
The L.A. Regional STEM Hub has shifted resource flows, relationships/connections, and practices, aligning and enhancing the STEM experience for students.
